An escaped cow has declined to recognise a fictional fence's authority, arguing that no meaningful consultation took place before the field was divided into permitted and interesting grass.
The animal's initial statement consisted of looking towards the other side. Negotiators described this as unhelpful but consistent.
A rural administration panel has assembled a working group to establish whether the escape represents a security failure or the cow's first independent assessment of local amenities. The gate has been invited to submit evidence.
Officers attempted to encourage the cow towards its original location. The cow considered the proposal, inspected a verge and made a counteroffer involving continuing to inspect the verge.
A fictional property consultant suggested that the disagreement might be resolved by renaming the field a managed grazing community. The cow has not indicated that branding is the principal issue.
Neighbours were advised not to approach. Several nevertheless approached to explain that they had always thought the fence looked a bit low, an observation expected to feature prominently in the subsequent residents' meeting.
The cow eventually expressed interest in returning when food became available. Officials welcomed the breakthrough, although the animal maintains it was an independent decision and would like that reflected in the minutes.
